The Café
Located in historic Northwest Denver, Highlands Garden Café is the
perfect location to gather with friends and family from all around the metro
Denver area! The Café is just minutes from downtown Denver, the new art
museum, the Children's museum, the aquarium, Pepsi center, Invesco Field,
Coors Stadium, the convention center, the performing arts center and hotels.
We serve dinner daily, and brunch for Private Dining and Special Events, so whether in town everyday or just today,
please visit the Café. Click here to view a photo gallery of all the Café's private dining rooms.
After dining with us, stroll through one of Denver's oldest and most architecturally interesting
neighborhoods. Within just a few blocks you can visit a variety of small, eclectic shops
and see some of Denver’s most beautiful older Victorian homes.
Thus in character with homes of the Victorian era, the Café is made up of
a series of small rooms that are contiguous but able to be separated for a more intimate
experience when requested. We have several rooms of various sizes,
each with its own unique characteristics. With five fireplaces, original stain glass,
exposed brick, antiques and oriental rugs, we can offer a variety of cozy dining options
for our guests as they witness the seasonal parade in the gardens through
the large bay windows.

The Gardens
It is really the gardens that keep us in step with the seasons: sparkling winter
landscapes, early spring lilacs, fragrant summer roses, crisp fall colors.
We planted these beds 12 years ago and have nurtured them over
time. The winter evergreens, spring bulbs, flowering shrubs and perennials
happily tumble over each other despite all attempts at order. This garden
delights for our guests strolling the brick pathways that connect our four patios.

The Patios
One of the best things about living in Denver is the number of days with sunshine and blue skies.
The Café was designed to take full advantage of Colorado's moderate climate, year round!
For over a hundred years, this property was home to numerous generations of Denverites.
We inherited a landscape filled with mature trees. We added flowering shrubs, evergreens
and perennials to create a garden theme, enriching the Victorian essence and sense of place
we found. We are pleased to share these gardens with our guests as they dine.
Highland's Garden Café can provide a number of outside dining options for our guests -
an intimate table for two on the side porch, a spot on the avenue under an umbrella, a
shaded setting under our apple tree, a secluded back patio or an urban second story deck
with a glimpse of downtown Denver.
West Patio: The centerpiece of our main patio is an ancient apple tree. Adorned with
bright blossoms in the spring, it rains showers of petals when encouraged by even the
slightest breeze. It provides shade in the summer as well as a home for our pesky
resident squirrel! Each fall, it provides a generous crop of apples for pies, dumplings,
jam and Laura's famous crisp!
The Porches: Roses and clematis adorn the two side porches which provide a peaceful
interlude for guests seeking an intimate dining experience.
The Front Patios: The two patios along 32nd Avenue sit above a terrace planted with
mahonia and plumbago. Although the patios are separated from the sidewalks by handmade
wrought iron fencing and impressive gates, they still allow guests to engage in the theater
of the street with its parade of people, dogs, baby carriages, bicycles, cars and buses.
The Back Patio: A second apple tree, a hawthorn and an enormous lilac shade the back patio!
Furnished with Smith and Hawkins teak furniture, it is a favorite with guests who wish to sit
and sip a glass of wine before dinner, share a cocktail with business associates or to dine with friends.
The Deck: Terra cotta pots and window boxes filled with colorful annuals continue the garden
theme on the upstairs deck. This is our newest and most urban option with a slice of the
Eastern horizon that, at sunset, captures the lights of downtown and provides a star struck
view on a summers evening!
All these patios are joined by beautiful brick pathways that wind through the
gardens making them completely accessible for all of our guests.
Take a moment to sit and wonder at
the bounty of the seasons!
